Hopefully you'll sew this reply here.

Basically you are getting bumpy edges because you are not pulling your thread tight enough when pulling the thread around the circle. Pull the thread as tightly as you can without breaking it. This is where it's really important to stitch PAST the original starting point and not just up to the point you started. It makes a big difference.

When you press the circle dry with the underside facing you, try pressing the circle from the outside in. This will also help keep the circle perfect without any bumps.

Finally, double check the smoothness of the edge before you take the template out. If it's at all bumpy, apply more starch and use the tip of your iron to press out. Again, if your thread is super tight, you really shouldn't get any bumps.

Good luck! I am getting some little bump edges though, (sort of related to pleats on the under side, I think). I'm wondering if you have any tips to avoid this issue please? I must admit that number three circle looked much better than numbers one and two, so maybe it's just a matter of practice? Do you remember having issues when you first began making them? I'm using the 4 and 1/2" circle, the biggest. I think your grey quilt with them is amazing.
Many thanks
MarinaKiwiquilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07140031711904754517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5156196178932753360.post-58535571171944660982016-12-01T08:48:04.376+11:002016-12-01T08:48:04.376+11:00Your stars are great fun.
