And that's the show, folks!

I've made a big decision. I'm shutting down Buttontree Lane. I actually made the decision back in May, but it has taken me this long to work out how to actually shut it down.

I am waiting for some bags to arrive back from Material Arts in Braidwood (now sadly closed as Kate wanted to spend more time on her farm with her family) and I'll be putting those in the shop. I have a lot of sack bags cut out and ready to sew, but to be perfectly honest I'm not that keen to make them at the moment. Perhaps one day soon, when I'm at a loose end. But the shop will close, and once the bags are gone, they are gone.

I'm sorry to be disappointing people. Buttontree Lane, while it has been a lot of fun, gave me a creative life I had only previously dreamed about. Sewing project bags was a major part of who I was for over two years, but now it's time to move on and start sewing for myself and my family, and become my own person again.

The blog will stay for now, so you haven't seen the last of me. I'm hoping that with this decision finally out there, it will unblock my sewmojo, and I might be able to finish a quilt or two (and stop talking about it so much).

  2. From a customer perspective I'm saying "Oh no", but I completely understand why you're shutting up shop. It's difficult when it becomes a business rather than a bit of creative fun (especially when you're also juggling full time work).
I'll be looking forward to seeing some quilt gorgeousness in the future, after you've had a well earned break.

  9. Hey, the only people who would be disappointed are those who haven't taken the opportunity of nabbing one of your fabulous bags. Bad luck to them (oh, is that a bit mean?). Luckily for my favourite sister, just yesterday she expressed desire for the new waspy project bag that I was lucky enough to buy from you at the last markets, so now she has that one AND a sunny boy. And I have a gorgeous little box bag. Ah, we are so lucky that you have shared your creativity with us. Thank you!!

  13. You gave me the incentive to do what I've been vacillating over for a long time. Have just purchased one of your sock boxes, yellow with elephants.

We all need time to smell the roses. Enjoy the time in your garden.

  15. Wowsers... totally understandable though. Sometimes turning something you love into work makes it, well work...

I'm very proud to have one of your amazing products in my collection!

Hope you find your mojo! (See if it's hanging out with mine...)

  16. Gasp! I've only just caught up on the news! And a box for socks or a sunnyboy was on my christmas wish list, too! I'm heading over now to see if there's anything left....!

Aside from my self-absorbed immediate response, though, congratulations on making a really big decision. I hope that it makes room in your life and brain to relocate the creative spark. I'm glad you're sticking around blogland, too! I'm feeling rather inspired by your crocheted shawls today, so thank you :-)
