I feel like I'm on the home strait.
After almost six years, lots of pricked fingers and a certain amount of mandatory ennui for a hand stitched quilt this size, I'm almost there.
Just 9 full blocks, 14 half blocks and a whole lot of sewing together to do. My kit is ready for action - just one block a night is all I'm asking of myself.
Then there is the basting, and the quilting by hand to be done.
But let's just concentrate on the quilt top for now, shall we?

Ahh, patience is a virtue isn't it! Can't wait to see the finished progress!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. You have WAY more patience than I. I've stalled in making a machine quilt top. I'd be hopeless with hand sewing one. I am in awe of your brilliance.
ReplyDeleteYou must have the patience of a saint my dear!
ReplyDeleteWhat an undertaking! Kudos to you for takling such a big job. I would love to do some quilting - But seeing as I have only just plucked up the courage to try the sewing machine, I might leave it a little longer. I would love to quilt the old fashioned way - sitting in a group, needle and thread. Seems kinda peaceful in the hectic lives we lead. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks amazing. Nearly there, have fun finishing it :)
ReplyDeleteGood on you for sticking at it! love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteIt will be beautiful a true labour of love.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is such a lot of work, well done!
ReplyDeleteOne step at a time. One step at a time. It looks so gorgeous--I'll be sure to be around in 2013 or whenever it is you plan to finish all that hand stitching! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed at all that handstitching. it's going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI am so utterly impressed. For the hanging in there and the handstitchery and the everything. It'll be a thing of true (and hard-earned) beauty.
ReplyDelete16 days huh? And then the hand quilting....just how much hand quilting are we talking about?? It will be such a lovely quilt when it is done with a lot of memories sewn in as well, perfect :-)
ReplyDeleteI would be tempted to frame it and hang it on the wall!

ReplyDeleteYou'll make it! I've only ever made 2 small quilts, and the thought of making something full sized scares me so I'm quite impressed when other people do!
