This is a Blythe dress I made from a vintage hand towel, op shopped many moons ago for about 50 cents. Yes, that is teeny tiny applique on the front. For reference, Blythe is about 12 inches tall.
The hat was made by an online friend, Blythely Jean.

Fun with Valori and Jane
This is my first chance to show the latest quilt off. I finished the entire thing from start (Friday 17th February @ 11 pm) to binding (last stitch was Wednesday 21st February @ 10 pm) in only 5 days. Admittedly most of the blocks were already sewn (from another project), but I'm impressed that I managed to stay this focussed for so long. Plus do all that machine quilting. Oy.
It helped that I had a deadline - the Cobargo Folk Festival was coming up (last weekend) and I was going to be sleeping in a cabin for 2 nights. Or course I needed a quilt! Doesn't everyone?
However, even given the deadline, I didn't get stressed about this, and nor did my back give me too much trouble. I'm rather impressed with myself, and I'm not saying that because I'm being
egotistical.
I just love this quilt.

Dresden Plates
Done in a class today with Cathy Stevenson, all made from the same fabric. Still 2 more plates to be made ... and then I will do something with them which *may* involve a wall hanging. Or maybe I'll make some more and make something bigger. They are rather addictive!

Breaking all the rules
Just the top so far. Originally a UFO, I decided on Friday night that I needed a single bed sized quilt for my weekend away at Cobargo (next weekend). Most of these blocks were already sewn 18 months ago, and were planned for a queen sized quilt which never eventuated. The fabric is mostly Jane Sassaman and Valori Well designed, and I won all the centre squares at one of the Canberra Quilters evening meeting raffles.
Anyway, I broke every single rule when making this top - and I doubt there is a 1/4 seam anywhere in the quilt. And it lies flat!! Look at that, quilt police! Of course the best bit is that I thoroughly enjoyed making! And that's all the quilt police should care about (because it's certainly all I cared about).
I am slowly free motion quilting this, and hope to start the binding tomorrow.

Jam Fancy
These cute little animals are by Christina Gordon, a Melbourne artist and fellow Blythe lover.
They are itsy bitsy - no more than an inch and a half tall. I've had Roger the cat for ages, and then Christina surprised me with some beautiful handmade Blythe clothes and the Scotty Dog when I met up with her after Christmas.
I can highly recommend her journal - check out the dolls she designed for Gina Garan which have just started selling in Japan, and her handmade Creepy Christmas decorations!

Sublime Stitching - new book
I was so thrilled that Jenny Hart had put out a new Sublime Stitching book. Luckily a Borders bookstore just opened in Canberra, and they got it in just before Christmas.
It made it straight to the top of the husband's Christmas list. I can't wait to start stitching some of the designs. Especially the Scotty Dog...

Mystery BOM - the third one
I've been taking more mystery block of the month classes - this time a seven month medallion mystery. Here are the results so far. There are some smaller pieced blocks - stilll to be made - and next month we put the whole thing together into a queen sized quilt top.
