My creative space

I love Thursdays. I have lunch with friends every Thursday. Thursday night is choir night. When I'm working, it's only one day away from the weekend and freedom. And I get to show you what I am working on today (when I'm not lady-lunching or singing).

At the front is a custom box for socks in the process of being made. I love the vintage sheet lining I have used in this batch, but it's almost all used up. I bought it as a doona cover - someone had created it using double sheets. They even hand sewed a dozen huge poppers to the bottom of the doona cover.

I am in the Polka Dot Swap and that's what I'm working on at the back of the sewing table. I'm not going to reveal too much about what I am sewing, but yes, it may include a boutonierre from Alicia Paulson's book. Or not. I still haven't decided, but I'd better get a move on!

More creative spaces over here.

  1. I had to Google doona cover. gotcha. duvet cover. so you're re purposing then? I've found that now that I can sew I can't simply give stuff away if I think I *might* have a use for the fabric at some point. As if I need another reason to packrat... ;) But I was given some denim overalls--and let's face it, 35-year-old mothers of three look silly in denim overalls--but the fabric is so pretty (it's batik, I think) I thought I could eventually make something for Grace out of it. So I kept them.

  2. Isn't it hard when the fabric's almost used up - you just know you won't find that one again, but then again a better one might just come along soon! I've just got the same book and am looking forward to trying a few things out of it too! x

  8. Vintage sheeting is so beautiful - and it must give a great 'pop' on the inside of your box of sox too.

  14. I love your range of polka dot fabric. It is gorgeous. I had a look at your shop. The things you make are lovely. I wanted to see your sock box that you are making. I think to purchase, I'd need to see a picture of the inside too and see it oepn with socks. Just seeing the outside doesn't give enough information.
