One of my favourite things about summer is the smell of ripening tomatoes on the vine.
Once you've touched them, the smell sticks to your hands, your hair, your nose, your clothes. It's the smell of a hope that perhaps we'll have ripe tomatoes by Christmas Day.
Here's to a bit of sun to turn those tomatoes into a festive red by Christmas day!
ReplyDeleteThose tomatoes are beauties!
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed your Countdown to Christmas posts, they've been like an advent calendar of festive cheer.
Great tomms!
ReplyDeleteI just picked the first cucumbe and zucchinis - I was so thrilled!
mmmm great looking tomatoes! i think i can smell them from here.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm, I LOVE that smell! And you're right, it does stick with you after touching those tomatoes, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWow, I am impressed. All the rain we have had has been great, I need to stake my tomatoes before they grow much bigger. Unfortunately mine don't have fruit yet, maybe by Australia Day?
ReplyDeleteIt is the smell of a Mango that does it for me! Oh and stone fruits!

I love the smell of ripening tomatoes too, as well as basil and other fresh greens. We have a lemon verbena just near our back door and it smells like lemon sherbet at the slightest touch. I love your garden photos and musings .....
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas!
I'm with you, nothing beats that smell! YUM! Did they turn in time?
