Since I made it here I can make it anywhere

We ride the subway several times each day, in all directions. The crocheters are everywhere on the subway.

Even I've had a go. On Sunday we took the subway out to Coney Island, which is over an hour from Harlem. And almost an hour back to Soho where we went next. I managed to get quite a lot done on the shawl I'm currently crocheting.

Quilting shops and yarn stores have been visited and money spent at all of them. The friendliness and kindness that has been shown to both of us is astounding, and the "husband chairs" are comfortable. We have a lot to learn in Australia ...

I'll be able to show what I purchased when I get back to Canberra. Unless I send it by sea mail because it doesn't fit in my port.

  1. Last time I went home a couple of years ago I bought sooo much crafty stuff! We are going in Christmas of 2012 and I am already planning to bring a suitcase just to bring stuff back. Probably the only benefit to traveling with three children - they each get two pieces of checkin luggage:) Glad you are having such a wonderful time! Cyndy

  6. Oh no, you really shouldn't have shown me all these knitting shops in New York. I love your spirit of adventure. And I double, triple love the red footless tights with the gold sneakers. You look as though you're having so much FUN!

  7. Am loving all your travel posts. Especially this lovely yarny one, heh! How good are the yarn stores! Knitty City was my favourite! I don't think I saw anyone crocheting on the subway, but I did some knitting!
Can't wait to see what you bring back (yarny and otherwise!)
