In print!

A few months ago I sent my stitchery BOM quilt to Down Under Quilts for an article on embroidered quilts. I got the early copy of the magazine yesterday, and there it is!

Mystery BOM - the third one

I've been taking more mystery block of the month classes - this time a seven month medallion mystery. Here are the results so far. There are some smaller pieced blocks - stilll to be made - and next month we put the whole thing together into a queen sized quilt top.

Hugo's quilt

My little nephew Hugo Dominic was born on 15 May 2006, and I made him this little quilt to hang on his nursery wall. I will be meeting little Hugo for the first time tomorrow, as he lives in Brisbane far away from his Aunty Michelle.

Once I spied these redwork patterns from patternbee.com, I knew they would be ideal. The sashing fabrics are a variety of vintage repro 1930s fabrics in blue, cream and red. All up, the quilt took me two weeks to make.

This is block 2 for the quilt I'm making to hang on a nursery wall.

My baby brother and his partner had their first child on Monday night - a little boy called Hugo Dominic. I'm trying to get the quilt finished by the 25th when I head up to meet Hugo for the first time.

Progress on 2010 Canberra Quilt Show entry

Here's the latest photo of the twisted hexagon quilt. I actually got this far in December last year, but hadn't taken a photo until today.

The top - it's done!

Today I finished the top for my mystery block of the month which Cathy Stevenson designed and taught. The first stage, which I finished yesterday morning, turned out really well - I would have been happy if we had stopped there....

First border

But lucky I didn't! Here's the whole shebang, put together last night and today, and I'm so happy with how it all came together! All those border applique pieces that sent me nearly insane were worth it.

All borders added

I'll be machine quilting this somehow ( it's bigger than I imagined!). Photos to follow...

Angel loot

I am in the SCQuilters Retreat angel swap, and this month my angel got me this fabric and thread which is just so stunning it takes my breath away.

Why can't I ever find stuff like this when I'm out looking for myself?

Another MBOM update

Tomorrow night is the last class in my Mystery Block of the Month. So the past week has been spent getting busy catching up on the blocks I hadn't done yet.

Here's the December installment...

I've been busy making doll clothes, to sell to friends in the Blythe online communities.

Loot

I'm back from Melbourne and my week long tennis odyssey. It was a wonderful week, and at the end of it all I managed to scurry off to a patchwork shop or two.

This loot is from my shopping spree at 'Patchwork on Central Park'. This will all go into making Blythe (doll) stuff for sale.
