A frog went a-courtin'

First day at work and I'm completely buggered. Thank heavens I had the foresight to plan for leftovers for tea tonight. We also had two frogs on hand, and some green jelly - what else to do but Frog in a Pond (with snowballs). Delicious, but I'm feeling a little ill right now.

I've been giving something a lot of thought lately, and I'm worried about keeping shop updated much, if at all. Until I can get my routine of a long commute (it's an hour and a half per day of sitting on or waiting for a bus), eight hours of work, and then the cooking, gardening and exercising in order, I don't when there will be enough time to dedicate to Buttontree Lane in the next few weeks.

I'm very sad about this, and I'll try really hard to fix it but I've been doing the maths, and did you know that 24 - 7 (sleep) - 8 (work) - 1.5 (commute) only leaves 7 1/2 hours?!? That's nuts.

At least the pay is better now! Bright side!

  1. Oh I want frog in a pond! NOW!

I think you'll figure out what you can do as things settle down.

  2. Your frog in the pond looks delicious. It's very sad that you won't have time for Buttontree Lane but you must put yourself first. If I had a real job there is no way I would have time to make anything, let alone try to sell it!

  3. Job ??? I missed that bit ! Congratulations. There are never enough hours in the day but don't run yourself ragged - try and settle in first, and then you can knit on the bus!!!

  4. I'm with Bells. Give yourself some time to settle back in to work and then get back to the shop when you have the space for it. It will happen.

I was just having a conversation with someone last night about mindfulness and being in the moment with things. I often try to do 10 things at once and I end up doing none of them well. I'm going to be practicing it myself.

  5. I agree with the other wise women hanging around your blog frogpond: give it time. The first two months, or four, on a jo are always completely exhausting and soak up every grain of energy you have. You'll get some time back, just not right away. Be good to yourself in the mean time!

  6. What Bells and bigcat said. You'll find your groove, Im sure. But - bright side! - there's 1.5 hours of crocheting time in that commute!

  7. Relax into the job a bit before you worry about the shop. You'll find some crafting time somewhere in that 7.5 hours eventually, but new jobs are exhausting! Be kind to yourself. And get that crochet hook happening on the commute - I am expecting LOADS of crochet on this blog! Must head off now to find some chocolate frogs ...

  10. Those commutes eat up serious crafting time, don't they!?

  11. Oh Michelle, I've loved your blog and looking at the great things you've been making. I'll really miss your reduced output but there is just never enough hours in the day.

On that note I've got to get in quick and buy one of your lovely crocheted flowers.

    Login to Etsy right now!

  12. frog in a pond! hurrah! I bought some caramello koalas the other day - mmm, yummy straight out of the fridge!

As others have said, you'll work out the time thing, and the long commute is good for the crochet!
