My creative space - this old kitchen

This old kitchen.

Kitchen

Built in 1969, renovated in 1976 and repainted sometime in the late 80s, or whenever Mediterranean colour schemes were all the rage.

I've taken two days off work to sand the kitchen cupboards.

After sanding

Undercoat the kitchen cupboards.

After undercoat

And apply one coat of red paint.

First coat of red

Now I have to wait 16 hours for it to dry. The second coat gets painted on Friday night after work. We know how to kick our heels up in this house! But I can't wait to see it all finished. Other than the front of my house being painted last September, this is the first bit of renovation I have done in over 4 years of living here.

Then it will be time to paint the walls... and the ceiling ... and the rest of the house...

  2. oooh red cupboards! They look fantastic. I love the idea of having a bright and colourful kitchen. I posted a pic of my dream kitchen a little while ago. It had a kelly green feature wall! I can't wait to own a house so I can renovate.

  17. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! red! I wish I could paint my kitchen cupboards (also yellow - with a blue benchtop made of some horrible stuff that seems to hold in stains - ugh!). But alas they are laminate stuff that can't be painted apparently. Don't think husby would let me go for red though...Looking forward to seeing the final "after" photo!

We have settled into an apartment in Southbank, which is just a 15 min walk to work in the morning. Undoubtedly that will be even lovelier once we get some steady sunshine!
